Ensuring the safety of household energy storage batteries requires starting from multiple aspects such as product design, installation and use, daily maintenance, and combining technical means, standardized operation, and regulatory standards to form a complete safety system. The following are specific measures:
1、 Choose safe and reliable products (source control)
Priority for high-quality battery types
It is recommended to use lithium iron phosphate batteries, which have much higher thermal stability than ternary lithium batteries (the decomposition temperature of lithium iron phosphate is about 800 ℃, while ternary lithium is about 200-300 ℃), lower probability of thermal runaway, and longer cycle life (generally up to 3000 times or more).
Avoid choosing "three no products" without branding or certification, and prioritize selecting large companies with qualifications in the field of new energy (such as CATL, BYD, Paineng Technology, etc.).
Focus on core security technologies
Battery Management System (BMS): It needs to have precise overcharge/overdischarge protection, short circuit protection, over temperature protection (real-time monitoring of cell temperature, automatic power-off when exceeding threshold), balanced charging (to avoid uneven aging of single battery cells) and other functions.
Thermal runaway warning and suppression: High end products are equipped with temperature sensors, smoke alarms, and some also have built-in fire extinguishing devices (such as inert gas jets), which can cut off power and suppress fires in the early stages of thermal runaway.
Protection level: IP65 or above (dustproof and waterproof) should be selected for outdoor installation, and at least IP54 (splash proof) should be selected for indoor installation to avoid short circuits caused by moisture and dust.
